Good News: Bad News

Our up and coming female, Farnell’s Christmas Cheska, just passed her hips and eye tests with the OFA. We plan on breeding her on her next heat cycle to a great stud, Waylon, who produced great hunters with River in the past.

Waylon

Cheska was our pick of the litter and like usual the kids picked her name around Christmas of 2020. We are excited about her potential lineage from our foundational female North River Splash.

Splash came to us before any of the kids so I was able to name her. Naming dogs is always interesting. Some names we have used include Rainbow, Lightning, Misty, Frosty, Icy and Buddy. My main concern with dog names at this point is that they be short and different enough that all the dogs we have can recognize their name from the other dog names. Definitely do not want any rhyming dog names. Of course, just like the kids I often get the dogs confused and call them by the wrong name. The dogs usually know I am still talking to them even if I call them the wrong name

The bad news for us but maybe good news for you is our male Hudson has not developed into the breed standard stud we were hoping do. He is still a great dog capable of producing outstanding pets but our goal is to produce CBR that conform to the breed standards.

Hudson has a tail which curves over his back. The looks pretty cool like a Husky but to. Chesapeake. This may be good news for you if you are looking for a started dog who loves to fetch and swim. We are hoping to place him in a great home soon. Please let us know if you are interested.

Until next time, stay safe and have fun! We can see promises of spring coming here and hope you can too. Looking forward to it!
