Hello to all of the 17 subscribers to “Automatic Pup Updates” as well as other visotors to this blog. Today we are introducing Farnell’s Maple as the expectant momma to our next litter due June 9.

Maple has turned out to be an outstanding Chesapeake who lives with our oldest daughter’s family. She is very protective of our grandchildren and follows them wherever you go. Everyone has learned to announce to Maple that you are coming to check up on the kids. Once, I went to check on them at night when they were sleeping in their hammocks without announcing myself. She had a tremendous bark that had me wondering if I had made a mistake even though I kept saying, “Maple, Maple, it’s OK girl.” over and over.

Maple is also a smiling Chesapeake. Not all of our dogs smile but Maple loves to smile. When my father visited and saw her smiling at him he asked me what her problem was. I told him that she did not have a problem she was just smiling at him. He didn’t believe me and said I think she wants to eat me. The smile can be a bit intimidating for those unfamiliar with it.
