We are excited to have our first subscribers to our Pup Blog who are not family. Welcome, all 3 of you! We hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas and have a great New Year.
Today our post will focus on our up and coming stud dog, Hudson. What I like about Hudson is his reddish coloring and the outstanding hunting lineage he comes from. While many Chesapeake breeders we are familiar with focus on producing outstanding dogs in the show ring we prefer to produce outstanding family dogs and great hunters.
Hudson comes from Idaho where both his parents are avid waterfowl hunters. They are the “meat and potato” type hunters that help to provide food for their families. Our dogs are similar, often hunting on our land in our own private swamp, working with our teenage boys to consistently bring home the ducks.
We were on a road trip to see our oldest son in Missouri when we picked up Hudson in Idaho. He traveled along with us and the whole family had a wonderful time bonding with him. Being a male, he is a loud mouth usually with strangers but settles down when he realizes everything will be ok. The younger kids used to get a kick out of watching people jump when he would start barking at them from the car in parking lots. Just doing his job, making people jump and kids laugh, while waiting for mom to shop.
Hudson’s had extensive DNA testing and shows promising results as a great stud dog. We are excited to see how his pups progress as they grow. We still have several male pups available so if you are interested in any of these pups please contact us right away. Thanks for reading and have a Happy New Year!
